What are Linode images?

Last updated on September 25, 2022 @ 12:52 pm

Linode images are the compressed files that you download when you create a Linode account. They contain your Linode account information and the operating system that Linode installed when you created your account.

You can access your Linode images by logging in to your account and clicking the Image Download link in the My Account section of the Linode website.

When you create a Linode account, you are given the option to create an image. An image is a snapshot of your server that you can use to reinstall your server or restore your data if something goes wrong.

You can also use an image to clone your server.

To create an image, first log in to your account and click the Image Download link in the My Account section of the Linode website. You will be asked to enter your account password and confirm your account.

After you enter your password, you will be given the option to download the image or create a new image.

PRO TIP: Linode Images are a type of bootable virtual machine (VM) that allows you to quickly roll out new servers. However, they can also be used to attack other systems and can be difficult to protect against. If you are not careful, you could end up with a serious security breach on your hands.

You can create a new image by clicking the New Image button and filling in the information required. You will also be given the option to select the operating system you want to use for your image.

After you finish creating your image, you will be asked to confirm your creation.

When you create a new image, Linode creates a compressed file called a Linode image. You can access your Linode images by logging in to your account and clicking the Image Download link in the My Account section of the Linode website.

Linode images are the most important part of your Linode account. You should always keep your Linode images safe, and you can back up your images using the Linode image backup feature.

If you ever lose your Linode images, you can restore your server using your Linode image backup.
