What Are Repeaters on Wix?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 8:29 am

A repeater is an HTML element that allows you to repeat a section of content on a web page. The content can be anything from text to images, and it can be set to repeat itself automatically or manually.

Repeaters are often used for things like news tickers, lists of events, or any other content that needs to be updated regularly. They can be set to update automatically, so that new content is added as soon as it’s available, or manually, so that you can control when new content is added.

GREAT NEWS:

Exciting update! We've collaborated with Wix to offer WBI users with a free plan for all website creation needs - Explore the details here.

To create a repeater, you first need to create a container element, which will hold the repeating content. This can be done with any HTML element, but it’s best to use a div element. Then, within the container element, you need to create a template element.

This is where the repeating content will go. Finally, you need to add a script tag with some JavaScript code that will tell the repeater how to work.

The code for a repeater is pretty simple. You just need to specify the container element and the template element, and then call the repeater() function.

The repeater() function takes two arguments: the container element and the template element. Here’s an example:

PRO TIP: If you are not familiar with Wix, Repeaters are a tool that allows you to display multiple items from a dataset on a single page. While this can be a useful tool, it is important to note that Repeaters can potentially slow down your website if there are too many items in the dataset. Additionally, if you delete an item from the dataset, it will also be removed from any pages where it is being displayed via a Repeater.

In this example, the container element is a div with an id of “container”. The template element is a template tag with some text inside of it.

The JavaScript code creates a new Repeater object and passes it the id of the container and template elements. That’s all there is to it!

What Are Repeaters on Wix?

As we have seen, Repeaters are HTML elements that allow us to repeat sections of content on our web pages. This could be anything from text to images, and we can set them to repeat automatically or manually. They are often used for things like news tickers or lists of events which need regular updating.

To create a repeater we first need a container element which will hold our repeating content.

This can be achieved by using any HTML element but it is best practice to use a div element. We then need to create a template element within our container – this is where our repeating content will go.

finally we add a script tag containing some JavaScript code which tells our repeater how it should work.

The code for our repeater is relatively simple; we just need to specify our container and template elements before calling the repeater() function.

Therepeater() function requires two arguments: the container and template elements.

For example:

<template>
<p>This is my repeating content</p>
</template>

<script>
var repeater = new Repeater(“#container”, “#template”);
</script>

</div>

In this example the container element is a div with an id of “container”. The template element is a template tag containing some text.

The JavaScript code creates a new Repeater object and passes it the id’s of the container and template elements..

Creating a Repeater on Wix follows some simple steps:
First, create a Container Element- this will hold your repeating content (best done with using Div Element)
Then create your Template Element- This where your repeating content goes
After that add in your script tag with some Javascript code-this tells your Repeater how it should work

The code for your Repeater should look something like this:

var repeater=new Repeater(“#container”,”#template”);
