What Are Transients in WooCommerce?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 5:51 am

When a customer goes to your WooCommerce store, they will see a variety of products that you have for sale. Each product has its own unique price, and some products may be on sale while others are not.

When a customer adds a product to their shopping cart, they are said to be creating a “transient” in WooCommerce.

Transients are essentially session-based data that is stored in the database for a short period of time. When a customer adds a product to their cart, WooCommerce creates a transient for that product which includes the product ID, price, and any other relevant information.

This transient is then used to calculate the total value of the customer’s shopping cart as well as any applicable taxes and shipping fees.

Transients are stored in the database for a short period of time so that they can be used again if the customer leaves your store without completing their purchase. If the customer does not return within a certain amount of time, the transient will expire and be deleted from the database.
