Last updated on September 28, 2022 @ 8:40 pm

Figma is a vector graphics editor and design tool, primarily used in the interface design of digital products. However, it’s possible to open other types of files in Figma as well, including images, PDFs, and even code snippets. Here’s a look at what files Figma can open and how to open them.

Images

Figma can open most common image formats, including JPEG, PNG, and GIF. To open an image in Figma, simply drag and drop it into the interface or click the “Open file” button in the top-left corner and select your image. Once the image is open, you can edit it using Figma’s vector tools.

PDFs

Figma can also open PDF files. To do this, click the “Open file” button in the top-left corner and select your PDF.

Once the PDF is open, you can view it in Figma but you won’t be able to edit it. To export a PDF from Figma, go to File > Export > PDF.

Code snippets

In addition to images and PDFs, Figma can also open code snippets. This can be useful if you want to quickly prototype a design idea using code.

To open a code snippet in Figma, click the “Open file” button in the top-left corner and select your code snippet. Once the code snippet is open, you can edit it using Figma’s code editor.

Figma is a versatile design tool that can be used to create interface designs for digital products as well as other types of graphic designs. In addition to interface designs, Figma can also be used to create images, PDFs, and even code snippets.

PRO TIP: Please be aware that Figma can only open .fig, .pdf, and .svg files. Attempting to open any other file type may result in data loss or file corruption.
