What Happens if I Don’t Get Paid on UpWork?

If you’re a freelancer, odds are you’ve used UpWork (formerly oDesk) to find work. It’s a great platform with a lot of opportunities, but what happens if a client doesn’t pay?

There are a few things that can happen if a client doesn’t pay you for work that you’ve completed. First, you can try to contact the client and request payment.

If that doesn’t work, you can file a dispute with UpWork. And if all else fails, you can take the client to small claims court.

If you don’t get paid on UpWork, the first thing you should do is try to contact the client and request payment. If the client is unresponsive or refuses to pay, your next step is to file a dispute with UpWork. To do this, go to the Disputes section of your account and click on the File Dispute button.

UpWork will then mediate between you and the client and try to resolve the issue. If they are unable to do so, they will close the dispute in your favor and release any funds that may be owed to you from escrow.

If UpWork is unable to help you resolve the issue, your last resort is to take the client to small claims court. This is usually not worth it unless the amount of money owed to you is significant.

So what happens if you don’t get paid on UpWork? First, try contacting the client directly.
