When you press the Hire button on UpWork, you are essentially entering into a contract with that freelancer. You are agreeing to pay them for their work, and they are agreeing to complete the work to your satisfaction.

Once you have hired a freelancer, you will be able to communicate with them directly through the UpWork platform. You can discuss the details of your project and send files back and forth. The freelancer will also be able to send you invoices through UpWork.

When you are ready to begin work with a freelancer, you will need to press the Start Contract button. This will officially start the contract and begin the billing process.

PRO TIP: When you press the “Hire” button on Upwork, you are agreeing to pay the freelancer for their work. Be sure that you have read and understand the terms of the freelancer’s contract before pressing this button.

You will be charged an hourly rate or a fixed price, depending on what was agreed upon. Once the contract is started, both you and the freelancer will have access to a shared workspace where you can continue to communicate and collaborate on your project.

It is important to remember that when you hire a freelancer through UpWork, you are responsible for paying them for their work. If the freelancer does not complete the work to your satisfaction or if they do not deliver on time, it is up to you to take action.

You can choose to cancel the contract or leave feedback for the freelancer. It is also important to remember that when you press the Hire button, you are agreeing to pay UpWork’s commission fee. This fee is typically 20% of the total amount paid to the freelancer.
