What Hardware Do I Need for Shopify POS?
In order to use Shopify POS, you will need:
- An iPad or Android tablet
- A Shopify POS Stand
- A receipt printer
- A barcode scanner
- An optional cash drawer
How to Set Up Shopify POS
Once you have all of the necessary hardware, setting up your Shopify POS is easy. Simply follow these steps:
– A compatible tablet or smartphone
– A Shopify POS Stand
– A Shopify POS compatible receipt printer
– A Shopify POS compatible barcode scanner
Without these hardware items, you will not be able to use Shopify POS. Be sure to factor in the cost of these items when budgeting for your POS system.
- Connect your iPad or Android tablet to the Shopify POS Stand.
Using the charging cord that came with your device, connect your iPad or Android tablet to the power supply on the back of the Shopify POS stand.
- Turn on your Bluetooth receipt printer and barcode scanner.
Make sure that your Bluetooth receipt printer and barcode scanner are powered on and within range of your iPad or Android tablet.
- (Optional) Connect a cash drawer to your receipt printer.
If you have a cash drawer, connect it to your receipt printer using the provided cable.
- (Optional) Connect an external keyboard.
If you want to use an external keyboard with your Shopify POS system, connect it now.
- For iPadOS 13 or later: Use a USB or Bluetooth keyboard with built-in Apple Pencil support. If you’re using an Apple Keyboard with Numeric Keypad, make sure that Number Lock is turned on.
- For iPadOS 12 or earlier: Use a USB keyboard with built-in Apple Pencil support.
- Download the Shopify app from the App Store (for iOS devices) or Google Play Store (for Android devices).
