What Is a Color Style in Figma?

A color style in Figma is a set of colors that can be applied to an element. There are two types of color styles: global and local. Global color styles can be applied to any element, while local color styles can only be applied to specific elements.

When creating a color style, you can choose from a variety of colors, including Pantone, CMYK, RGB, and HEX. You can also create your own custom colors. Once you’ve selected a color, you can name the color style and save it for future use.

PRO TIP: When creating a color style in Figma, be aware that the color will automatically update throughout your design. This can be helpful if you want to maintain a consistent color palette, but can also be disruptive if you accidentally change a color that is used in multiple places.

To apply a color style, select an element and click the “Style” tab in the right sidebar. Then, click the “Color” option and select the color style you want to apply. You can also apply color styles to text by selecting the “Text” option in the left sidebar.

Color styles are a great way to keep your design consistent and easy to change. If you need to update the colors in your design, simply change the color style and all elements that use that style will update automatically.
