Component Area in Joomla
A component area is a Joomla feature that allows you to compartmentalize your site’s content so that it can be more easily managed and updated. You can use component areas to create separate sites that share a common set of content and look, but that are managed separately.
When you create a new component area in Joomla, you’ll be prompted to choose a name and a template. The template defines the look and feel of the component area, while the name is what will appear in the Joomla menu and on the front end of your site.
Once you’ve created your component area, you’ll need to add some content. You can use any of the standard Joomla content types, or you can create your own custom content type.
To add content to a component area, simply select the component area from the Joomla menu and click the “Add content” button. Once you’ve added your content, you can either use the built-in editing features or use a third-party editor such as Adobe Dreamweaver or Microsoft FrontPage.
When you’ve finished editing your content, you can preview it in your component area and then publish it to your site. Publication will also create a link to your content from the main Joomla menu and on the front end of your site.
Component areas are a great way to create separate sites that share a common set of content and look, but that are managed separately. They’re easy to create and manage, and they provide a way to compartmentalize your site’s content so that it can be more easily updated.
