What Is a Frame in Figma?

A frame in Figma is like a canvas where you can add design elements and components. It helps you to better organise your work and makes it easier to share with others. You can also use frames to create responsive designs that resize automatically when viewed on different devices.

To create a frame, simply click the “+” icon in the left sidebar and select “Frame” from the menu. You can then give your frame a name and specify its width and height.

By default, frames are set to “Flexible” which means they will automatically resize to fit their contents. However, you can also set them to “Fixed” if you want them to stay at a specific size.

Once you’ve created a frame, you can start adding content to it. This can be anything from design elements like shapes and text, to components like buttons and input fields. You can also add other frames inside of a frame, which is useful for creating nested layouts.

When you’re finished designing your frame, you can export it as an image or PDF by clicking the “Export” button in the top toolbar. Alternatively, you can click the “Share” button to share your frame with others so they can view or edit it.

PRO TIP: If you are not familiar with Figma, or if you are new to using this design tool, you may be wondering what a frame is. A frame in Figma is essentially a container that holds other elements, such as images, text, or other objects. When you create a new file in Figma, you will be prompted to choose a canvas size. This canvas size will determine the size of your frame. You can also create multiple frames within a single file, which can be useful for designing multiple screens or pages.
