What Is an Element on Wix?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 6:28 am

An element is a basic component of any HTML document. All HTML documents are made up of elements. Elements are represented by tags, which are enclosed by angle brackets.

The HTML element is the most basic building block of all HTML pages. The HTML element defines a rectangular area on the page. The element has three main parts: a start tag, an end tag, and the content between the two tags.

GREAT NEWS:

Exciting update! We've collaborated with Wix to offer WBI users with a free plan for all website creation needs - Explore the details here.

The start tag looks like this: <element>. The end tag looks like this: </element>.

Anything between the start and end tags is the content of the element. The content can be anything: text, images, other elements, etc.

There are many different types of elements in HTML. Some elements are structural, meaning they define the structure of the page. Other elements are semantic, meaning they give meaning to the content on the page. And still others are presentational, meaning they define how the content on the page should look.

PRO TIP: If you are not familiar with Wix, it is a website builder that allows you to create a website without having to code. While this can be a great tool for some, it is important to be aware that there are limitations to what you can do with Wix. One such limitation is that you cannot add custom HTML or CSS code to your site. This means that if you want to add an element that is not available through the Wix platform, you will not be able to do so.

In addition to the three main parts of an element, there are also some optional parts: attributes and values. Attributes are added to elements to give additional information about that element. Values are assigned to attributes to further specify the meaning of that attribute.
