What Is Direct Contact in UpWork?

Last updated on September 30, 2022 @ 9:16 pm

Direct contact is the process of communicating with a client or freelancer without going through UpWork. This can be done through email, phone, or any other form of communication that doesn’t involve the UpWork interface.

There are a few reasons why you might want to contact someone outside of UpWork. Maybe you’re having trouble getting in touch with them through the site, or maybe you want to discuss a project in more detail before you start working together. Whatever the reason, it’s important to remember that when you contact someone outside of UpWork, you’re not covered by our Terms of Service.

That means that if something goes wrong, we won’t be able to help resolve the issue. We also can’t guarantee that payments will be made if work is done outside of UpWork. For these reasons, we recommend only contacting freelancers or clients that you’re already working with, and only doing so if absolutely necessary.

If you do need to contact someone outside of UpWork, the best way to do so is through email. That way, you have a record of the conversation that can be refer back to if needed. You should also make sure to cc: support@UpWork.com on any emails you send, so that we have a record as well.

In general, we advise against using direct contact unless absolutely necessary. However, we understand that there are some situations where it may be unavoidable. Just remember that if you do choose to use direct contact, you’re doing so at your own risk.
