What Is My Squarespace Sitemap?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 5:20 am

A sitemap is a list of pages on your website. Squarespace automatically generates your sitemap and submits it to search engines for you. You can find your sitemap at yoursitename.com/sitemap.xml.

Your sitemap includes all the pages, blog posts, and products in your site. If you have password-protected pages, they won’t appear in your sitemap. Search engines use your sitemap to learn about the structure of your site and to crawl it more intelligently.

You can view and edit your sitemap at Design > Site Map. Here, you can include or exclude pages from your sitemap, and change the priority of pages. The priority is a number between 0.0 and 1.0, with 1.0 being the most important.

PRO TIP: The Squarespace sitemap is a great way to keep track of your website’s pages and content. However, it is important to note that the sitemap is only updated when you publish or unpublish a page. This means that if you make changes to your website without publishing or unpublishing the page, the sitemap will not be updated and your changes will not be reflected in the sitemap.

To edit your sitemap:

  1. Open Site Map. You can find this option in the Design panel.
  2. Click the gear icon next to a page.

A panel will open on the right.

  3. In the Page Settings panel, select Yes or No next to “Include in Sitemap”. The default setting is Yes, which means the page will appear in your sitemap.
