What Is My Wix DNS?

Last updated on September 30, 2022 @ 11:42 am

Wix is a platform for creating beautiful websites. It’s simple to use and doesn’t require any coding. Just choose a template, customize your site, add content and you’re ready to go!

One of the first things you’ll need to do when setting up your Wix site is choose a domain name. This is the name of your website (e.g. www.mywixsite.com) and it’s what people will type in to find your site.

GREAT NEWS:

Exciting update! We've collaborated with Wix to offer WBI users with a free plan for all website creation needs - Explore the details here.

You can either buy a domain name from Wix or use one that you already own. If you use one that you already own, you’ll need to point your DNS (Domain Name System) to Wix.

PRO TIP: Warning: The “What Is My Wix DNS?” service is a potentially unwanted program that is installed on your computer without your permission. This program can change your DNS settings, which can cause problems with your internet connection. If you see this program on your computer, we recommend that you remove it.

DNS is basically a phone book for the internet. It converts human-readable domain names (like www.com) into machine-readable IP addresses (like 192.168.0.1). When someone types in your domain name, their computer will use DNS to find your website and show them the content you’ve published.

To point your DNS to Wix, you’ll need to change the A record and/or CNAME of your domain. The A record is the main address of your website and the CNAME is used for things like www or blog subdomains.

If you’re not sure how to do this, don’t worry! Wix has a handy tool that will guide you through the process step-by-step.

Just go to www.wix.com/dns and enter your domain name. We’ll show you exactly what changes you need to make and provide instructions on how to do it.
