What Is Shopify CSV?

Shopify CSV is a file format used to import and export products and customers from and to Shopify. A CSV file can be created in any text editor, such as Microsoft Notepad, and then saved with a .csv extension.

CSV files are supported by most spreadsheet applications, such as Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, and Apple Numbers.

Shopify supports the following types of CSV files for importing products:

  • ProductCSV: A comma-separated values file with product information, such as title, body (description), vendor, type, tags, published scope, option1 name, option1 value(s), option2 name, option2 value(s), etc.
  • InventoryCSV: A comma-separated values file that contains inventory information for products in your shop. This includes variant SKUs and inventory quantities.
  • PriceRuleCSV: A comma-separated values file that contains price rule information. This includes titles, Targets (such as collection or product),Trigger values (such as quantity or variant), customer eligibility (such as groups or tag), actions (such as percentage discount or free shipping), and starts/ends dates.
  • CollectionCSV: A comma-separated values file that contains collection information. This includes handle, title, body html (description), image src (image URL), published at date/time.
  • CustomerCSV: A comma-separated values file that contains customer information. This includes first name/last name/email/phone/verified email/addresses (street address1/street address2/city/province code [state code for US]/postal code)/metafields namespace & key [optional] /metafields value [optional].
  • BlogCSV: A comma-separated values file that contains blog information.
  • PageCSV: A comma-separated values file that contains page information. This includes handle , title , body html (description) , image src (image URL) , published at date / time .

Note: The maximum size for a Shopify CSV file is 15 MB.
