What Is SKU in Squarespace?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 12:15 am

SKU stands for “stock keeping unit,” and is a unique identifier for each product in your inventory. You can think of it like a product’s “serial number.”

You can add SKUs to products in your inventory in Squarespace Commerce. Adding SKUs to your products can be helpful if you need to track your inventory levels or want to integrate Squarespace with a third-party inventory management system.

To add a SKU to a product:

  • In the Home Menu, click Commerce.
  • Click Inventory. If you have multiple stores, open the relevant store.
  • Click the product you want to edit.

In the SKU field, enter a unique identifier for the product. This could be the product’s model number or any other combination of letters and numbers that uniquely identify this product.

Note:

You can’t use spaces, dashes, or periods in your SKU.

Underscores are allowed.

PRO TIP: When creating a product in Squarespace, you will be asked to input a SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) code. This is an identification code that is used to track the product in your inventory. It is important to make sure that the SKU code you input is unique and not already in use, as this could cause problems with tracking your inventory.
  • If you have multiple variations of a product (for example, different sizes or colors), each variation must have its own SKU. This ensures that each variation is tracked separately in your inventory.
