Figma is a vector-based design tool that is used by UX and UI designers to create high-fidelity prototypes. One of the features that sets Figma apart from other design tools is its use of web fonts.
Figma uses the Open Sans font by default. This font is a sans-serif typeface that was designed by Steve Matteson and commissioned by Google.
It is an open source font that is available for free under the Apache license. Open Sans is a versatile font that can be used for both body copy and headlines. It has a clean, modern look that makes it a good choice for web and app design.
In addition to using Open Sans, Figma also offers a range of other fonts that can be used in your designs. These include both sans-serif and serif fonts. Some of the other fonts that Figma offers include:
- Avenir Next: A sans-serif typeface that was designed by Adrian Frutiger and released in 1988. Avenir Next is available in six weights, from light to black.
- Lato: A sans-serif typeface designed by Łukasz Dziedzic. Lato is available in ten weights, from light to black.
- PT Sans: A sans-serif typeface designed by ParaType.
PT Sans is available in eight weights, from light to black.
- Georgia: A serif typeface designed by Matthew Carter and released in 1996. Georgia is available in four weights, from light to bold.
- Times New Roman: A serif typeface designed by Stanley Morison and released in 1931. Times New Roman is available in four weights, from light to bold.
Figma also allows you to upload your own fonts so you can use them in your designs. To upload a font, simply click on the “Add Fonts” button in the top bar and select the font file you want to upload. Once the font has been uploaded, you will be able to use it just like any other font in Figma.
