What Is the UpWork Opt Out Fee?

As a freelancer, you’re always looking for ways to make more money. And one way to do that is to take on more work.

But what if you’re already working as much as you can handle? Or what if you just want to take a break from freelancing for awhile?

There’s no need to worry – you can simply opt out of UpWork. Opting out is when you stop receiving new job offers from clients through UpWork. You’re still able to work with the clients you’re already working with, but you won’t receive any new job offers.

So why would you want to opt out? There are a few reasons:

PRO TIP: If you are considering opting out of Upwork, please be aware that there is a opt out fee of $50. This fee is non-refundable, so please be sure that you really want to opt out before doing so.
  • You might be maxed out on the number of hours you can work each week and don’t want to take on any more projects.
  • You might be taking a break from freelancing altogether (for example, if you’re going on vacation or taking some time off for personal reasons).
  • You might have found a great long-term client and don’t need to look for any more work right now.

Whatever your reason for wanting to opt out, it’s easy to do. Just follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your UpWork account.
  2. Click on the “Settings” tab at the top of the page.
  3. Under “Account Status,” click “Edit.”
  4. Select “I do not wish to receive new job offers at this time” and then click “Save Changes.”

There is no fee associated with opting out of UpWork. You can opt back in at any time by following the steps above and selecting “I wish to receive new job offers.”
