Where Are DNS Records on Weebly?

Weebly is a web hosting company that enables users to create and design their own websites. The company offers a variety of features and options to its users, one of which is the ability to add DNS records.

DNS, or Domain Name System, is a system that converts human-readable domain names into numerical IP addresses. This allows computers to communicate with each other and access websites. When you add a DNS record on Weebly, it tells the DNS servers what IP address to direct visitors to when they type in your domain name.

There are two types of DNS records that you can add on Weebly: A records and CNAME records. A records are used to map a domain name to an IP address.

CNAME records are used to map a subdomain to another domain name. For example, you could use a CNAME record to map the www subdomain to your main domain name.

To add a DNS record on Weebly, log in to your account and go to the Settings page. Under the “Domain” section, click on the “DNS Records” tab. From here, you can add, edit, or delete DNS records.

There are four fields that you need to fill out when adding a DNS record:

PRO TIP: Weebly’s DNS records are not public and should not be shared with anyone. If you do share them, we recommend doing so only with people you trust.

Name: This is the hostname or subdomain that you want to map. For example, if you want to map the www subdomain, you would enter “www” here.

TTL: This stands for “time to live” and it determines how long the DNS record will be cached by DNS servers. The lower the TTL, the faster changes will take effect.

However, setting the TTL too low can result in increased traffic to your website as DNS servers will constantly be querying your site for changes. It’s generally best to leave this field set to the default value.

Type: This specifies what type of DNS record you want to add. As mentioned earlier, there are two types of DNS records that you can add on Weebly: A records and CNAME records. Select the appropriate option from the drop-down menu.

Value: This is where you enter the IP address or domain name that you want to map your hostname or subdomain to.
