Where Are Images Stored in Shopify?

When you upload an image to Shopify, it is stored on a content delivery network (CDN). A CDN is a global network of servers that are used to store and deliver content quickly and efficiently.

Shopify’s CDN stores your images on servers all around the world. This means that when someone visits your store from anywhere in the world, they will be able to load your images faster.

Shopify’s CDN is powered by Amazon’s CloudFront service. CloudFront is a content delivery network (CDN) that delivers content from a global network of edge locations.

Edge locations are data centers that are located in major cities around the world. When someone accesses your store from one of these locations, they will be able to load your content faster than if they were accessing it from a location that is further away.

PRO TIP: Shopify does not currently offer a way to directly view or access the files for the images that you have uploaded to your shop. Image files are stored on Shopify’s secure servers and are served to your customers through Shopify’s Content Delivery Network (CDN). For this reason, it is not possible to view or download the original image files that you have uploaded to your shop.

To ensure that your images are always available on the CDN, Shopify stores multiple copies of each image on different servers. This means that if one server goes down, another server can take its place. This ensures that your images are always available and loading quickly for your customers.
