Where Are My Photoshop Temp Files?

Last updated on November 22, 2022 @ 3:55 am

As a graphic designer, I am constantly using Photoshop to create various images and designs. When working on a project, I often need to save my work as a “temp” file so I can come back to it later and make changes.

However, sometimes I can’t seem to find my temp files when I need them! Where do they go?

First of all, it’s important to understand that temp files are automatically generated by Photoshop and are saved in a temporary location on your computer. This location is typically different for each person, and can even be different for each project you’re working on.

That being said, there are a few general tips you can follow to help you find your Photoshop temp files:

PRO TIP: If you are using Adobe Photoshop and cannot find your temporary files, there may be a problem with your installation. Try reinstalling the program to see if that fixes the issue. Otherwise, you may need to contact customer support for assistance.
  • Check your recent files: Often times, temp files will be saved in the same location as your most recent project. So, if you’re having trouble finding a particular temp file, try checking your “Recent Files” list in Photoshop. To do this, go to File > Open Recent > [project name]. Once you find the project you’re looking for, open it up and check the folder where it’s saved.

Chances are, your temp file will be in there.

  • Check your system settings: If you still can’t find your temp file, it might be because of your system settings. Every computer is different, so you’ll need to check your settings to see where Photoshop is saving temp files on your machine. To do this, go to Edit > Preferences > TEMP Files. From here, you should be able to see the location of your temp files.
  • Ask someone else: If all else fails, try asking someone else who might know where your Photoshop temp files are saved on your computer. This could be a co-worker or friend who is also a graphic designer.

Conclusion:

So, where do Photoshop temp files go? The answer is that they’re automatically saved in a temporary location on your computer.

This location is typically different for each person, and can even be different for each project you’re working on. If you’re having trouble finding your temp files, try checking your “Recent Files” list in Photoshop or checking your system settings to see where Photoshop is saving temp files on your machine.
