Where Is My Magic Wand Tool in Photoshop?

As a Photoshop user, you may have noticed that there is no longer a “magic wand” tool available. This tool was used to select areas of an image based on color similarity. So, what happened to it?

The magic wand tool was removed in Photoshop CC 2015. Adobe decided to remove the tool because it was not frequently used and because the functionality could be replicated using the Quick Selection tool.

The Quick Selection tool is located in the toolbar on the left side of the screen. It can be used to select areas of an image based on color similarity.

PRO TIP: If you are using Adobe Photoshop and cannot find the Magic Wand Tool, it may have been hidden. To unhide the tool, go to Window > Tools or press F5. If the Magic Wand Tool is still not visible, it may have been replaced by another tool.

To use the Quick Selection tool, simply click and drag your mouse over the area you want to select. The selection will automatically expand to similar colors.

You can also add to your selection by holding down the Shift key and clicking on additional areas. To remove areas from your selection, hold down the Alt key and click on the area you want to remove.

So, there you have it! The magic wand tool is no longer available in Photoshop, but you can still achieve similar results using the Quick Selection tool.
