Where Is the DNS Configuration on Wix?

Last updated on September 30, 2022 @ 11:30 pm

DNS, or Domain Name System, is a critical part of the internet. It’s what allows us to type in www.google.com instead of having to remember an IP address. DNS is a distributed system that translates human-readable domain names into the numerical IP addresses that computers use to connect to each other.

When you type a URL into your browser, your computer contacts a DNS server and asks for the IP address associated with that domain. The DNS server then looks up the IP address and responds back to your computer. Your browser then uses that IP address to connect to the website’s server and load the website.

Exciting update! We've collaborated with Wix to offer WBI users with a free plan for all website creation needs - Explore the details here.

Wix is a popular website builder that allows users to create and customize their own websites. Wix provides its users with an easy-to-use drag-and-drop interface and a wide range of features and templates.

PRO TIP: The DNS Configuration on Wix can be found in the Wix Editor. To access the DNS Configuration, click on the “Domain” tab and then click on the “DNS” tab. The DNS Configuration allows you to change the DNS servers for your domain. If you are not familiar with DNS, we recommend that you leave the DNS servers as they are.

One thing that Wix does not provide, however, is DNS configuration. This means that if you want to use a custom domain name with your Wix website, you will need to set up DNS for your domain yourself.

There are a few different ways that you can do this. One option is to use a third-party DNS service such as Cloudflare or Amazon Route 53.

These services will allow you to configure DNS for your domain and point it at your Wix site. Another option is to set up DNS yourself using BIND or another DNS software package. This is a more advanced option and is not recommended for beginners.

If you want to use a custom domain name with your Wix website, you will need to set up DNS for your domain yourself using a third-party DNS service or by setting up DNS yourself using BIND or another DNS software package.
