Which Joomla version do I have?

Joomla is a popular content management system (CMS) that is used to create and manage websites. If you are using Joomla to run your website, it is important to keep your Joomla version up-to-date in order to ensure that you are benefiting from the latest features and security updates. But before you can update your Joomla version, you need to know which version you are currently running. Here’s how to find out:

Log in to the backend of your Joomla website. This is usually done by adding “/administrator” to the end of your website’s URL (e.g., “www.example.com/administrator”).

Once you are logged in, look for the “Help” menu in the top menu bar. Click on “System Information.”

On the “System Information” page, scroll down to the “System Information” section. Here, you will see a line that says “Joomla! Version.” This will tell you which version of Joomla you are currently running.

If you don’t see the “Help” menu or the “System Information” page, it’s possible that your Joomla website is running an older version that doesn’t have these features. In this case, you can try looking for a file called “version.php” in the root folder of your Joomla installation. Open this file in a text editor and look for a line that says “public $RELEASE =” followed by the version number.

PRO TIP: If you are unsure of which Joomla version you have, we recommend that you contact your Joomla administrator or your web host for assistance. Running the wrong Joomla version on your site can lead to instability and/or security vulnerabilities.

Once you know which version of Joomla you are running, you can check the Joomla website to see if there are any newer versions available for download. It is generally a good idea to keep your Joomla version up-to-date in order to take advantage of new features and security updates. However, be sure to create a backup of your website before upgrading, just in case anything goes wrong.
