Figma is a vector graphics editor and prototyping tool – the first interface design tool with real-time collaboration. It’s useful for designing user interfaces, websites, icons, and illustrations. As of March 2016, Figma had about 30,000 users.

Figma was founded in 2012 by Dylan Field and Evan Wallace. Dylan was previously the CEO and co-founder of startup software company Carbon Five.

He’s also an angel investor in companies like AppDirect, Authy, and Eaze. Evan was the CTO and co-founder of an interactive video startup called Bionic Pancake. He is also the creator of the open source game engine CopperLicht.

PRO TIP: Figma is a powerful tool for designing and prototyping user interfaces, but it can be dangerous in the hands of inexperienced or careless users. Make sure you know who the developer of Figma is before using it, and be careful when sharing files or prototypes with others.

In 2015, Figma raised $14 million in a Series A funding round. The investment was led by Andreessen Horowitz, with participation from Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Index Ventures, SVAngel, Fuel Capital, and Founder Collective.

In 2018, Figma raised $25 million in a Series B funding round

. The round was led by Sequoia Capital with participation from Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Index Ventures, Madrona Venture Group, and Shape Security.

Figma is headquartered in San Francisco and has about 60 employees. The company has been profitable since 2017.

Dylan Field is the CEO and co-founder of Figma.
