I’m a recent college graduate and I’ve been trying to get a job on UpWork for months now. I’ve applied to hundreds of jobs, but I haven’t gotten a single one.
I’m starting to think there’s something wrong with me.
First of all, don’t worry. It’s not just you – it’s extremely difficult to get jobs on UpWork, especially if you’re new to the platform.
The competition is fierce, and there are a lot of people who are willing to work for very low rates.
So why aren’t you getting any UpWork jobs? There could be a few reasons:
- You’re not bidding enough. If you’re only bidding $5-$10 per hour, you’re not going to get many (if any) jobs. You need to be competitive with your rates, but you also don’t want to undersell yourself.
- Your profile isn’t strong enough. Take some time to beef up your profile – add more information about your skills, experience, and education. Include samples of your work, if possible. The stronger your profile is, the more likely you are to get hired.
- You’re not applying to the right jobs. Make sure you’re applying for jobs that you’re actually qualified for. If you’re applying for jobs that are way out of your skill level, you’re not going to get hired.
If you’re having trouble getting hired on UpWork, don’t give up! Keep applying and tweaking your approach until you land that perfect gig.
1. You’re not applying to the right jobs. Make sure you’re applying to jobs that match your skillset and that you’re qualified for.
2. Your proposals aren’t stand-out. Take some time to customize your proposals for each job, rather than using the same generic template for every application.
3. You’re not being responsive. If a client contacts you with questions or feedback, make sure to respond promptly.
4. You’re not being active on the platform. Clients are more likely to hire freelancers who are active and engaged on Upwork. So, make sure you log in regularly and participate in the community forums and other activities.
If you’re not getting the results you want on Upwork, take a look at your approach and see if there’s anything you can change. With a little effort, you should be able to land more clients and get more work!
