Why can’t I crop my image in Illustrator?

Illustrator is a great program for creating graphics but cropping an image can be a difficult task. The program has a number of features that can make cropping an image difficult.

One of the features is the ability to save an image as a PDF or EPS file. This can prevent the image from being cropped. Uploading a PDF file may also damage the formatting of your design.

On the other hand, if an actual image is uploaded in Illustrator, you will see that the “Crop Image” option is available in the top menu.

PRO TIP: If you are trying to crop an image in Illustrator and it’s not working, it’s likely because you are using the wrong tool. The Crop Tool in Illustrator is for cropping vector shapes, not images. To crop an image, use the Rectangle Tool to draw a rectangle over the portion of the image you want to keep, and then go to Object > Clipping Mask > Make.

Additionally, Illustrator allows for a number of artistic effects that can be used to mask the cropping. However, these effects can also create interesting and complex images. As a result, it can be challenging to determine where cropping should occur. In some cases, it may be necessary to crop the image multiple times in order to achieve the desired results.
