Why Can’t I Edit My Text in Canva?

Last updated on December 6, 2022 @ 5:49 am

When you are working on a design in Canva, you may find yourself needing to edit the text in your design. Maybe you want to change the font, or the color of the text, or even the size. Whatever the reason, you may be wondering why you can’t seem to edit your text in Canva.

The answer is actually quite simple. When you are working in Canva, you are working with pre-made templates. That means that the text has already been formatted and cannot be changed.

If you want to edit the text in your design, you will need to use the HTML editor. To do this, simply click on the “Edit HTML” button at the top of the Canva editor.

Once you are in the HTML editor, you can make changes to the text by using basic HTML tags. For example, if you want to make your text bold, you would use the < b > tag.

If you want to underline your text, you would use the < u > tag. And if you want to change the font size of your text, you would use the < p > tag.

Making changes to your text in Canva is easy once you know how to do it. Simply switch to the HTML editor and use basic HTML tags to make whatever changes you need to make.

PRO TIP: If you are having trouble editing your text in Canva, it is most likely due to one of the following reasons:

-Your text box may be locked. To unlock it, simply click on the lock icon in the top left corner of the text box.

-You may be trying to edit your text in a layer that is set to ‘Flatten’. To edit your text, you will need to create a new layer or duplicate the layer you are trying to edit.
