Why Can’t I Edit on Wix?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 8:49 am

If you’ve ever used Wix to create a website, you may have noticed that there is no way to edit the HTML code directly. This can be frustrating if you want to add your own custom CSS or make other changes to the code, but fortunately, there is a workaround.

To edit the HTML code on a Wix site, you will need to use the Wix Editor. In the Editor, go to the ‘Site’ tab and then select ‘Edit Site.’ This will open up the Wix Editor, which will allow you to make changes to the code.

GREAT NEWS:

Exciting update! We've collaborated with Wix to offer WBI users with a free plan for all website creation needs - Explore the details here.

PRO TIP: If you are using the Wix Editor, you may have noticed that you are unable to edit certain areas of your site. This is because Wix has made these areas ‘un-editable’ in order to protect the overall design and layout of your site.

While it may be frustrating not to be able to edit certain elements of your site, it is important to remember that Wix is trying to help you create a professional, polished website. If you are unsure about how to make changes to your site, we recommend contacting Wix support or hiring a Wix Expert.

Once you’re in the Wix Editor, go to the ‘Pages’ tab and then select the page you want to edit. On the right-hand side, there will be an ‘Edit’ button. Click this button and then select ‘Edit Code.’

A new window will open up with the HTML code for that page. You can make your changes here and then click ‘Save’ when you’re done.

So why can’t you edit the HTML code directly on a Wix site? The simple answer is that Wix uses a proprietary system that doesn’t allow for direct editing of HTML code. However, by using the Wix Editor, you can still make all of the changes you need.
