Why Can’t I Prototype in Figma?

Last updated on November 30, 2022 @ 3:54 am

If you’re a web developer, you’re probably used to prototyping in HTML. But what if you want to prototype in Figma?

It’s actually quite simple – all you need to do is upload your Figma file to Figma, and then add the following code to your HTML file:

<iframe src="https://www.com/embed?embed_host=share&file_id=FILE_ID&format=compressed"
     width="WIDTH" height="HEIGHT" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Replace “FILE_ID” with the id of your Figma file, and “WIDTH” and “HEIGHT” with the desired width and height of your prototype.

You can then view your prototype in any browser, and even share it with others by sending them the URL of your HTML file.

PRO TIP: If you’re working on a Figma design and you’re thinking about prototyping, beware! There is currently no way to prototype in Figma. So if you want to add interactive elements to your design, you’ll need to use another tool.

Why Can’t I Prototype in Figma?

There are a few reasons why you might not want to prototype in Figma. First, it’s not as widely supported as other prototyping tools like Adobe XD and Sketch.

Second, it can be a bit tricky to get your prototype looking just right in Figma. And finally, Figma doesn’t have as many built-in interactions and animations as some other prototyping tools.

Conclusion:

Overall, while you can technically prototype in Figma, it might not be the best tool for the job. There are other more widely supported tools that are better suited for prototyping.
