Why Does My Shopify Store Say Out of Stock?

Last updated on January 9, 2023 @ 6:39 pm

If your Shopify store says “Out of Stock” it is likely because you have not set up product inventory tracking in your Shopify admin. Product inventory tracking is important for keeping track of your stock levels, and for knowing when to order more products from your supplier. To set up product inventory tracking:

    1. Go to Products in your Shopify admin.

    2. Click on the name of the product that is out of stock.

    3. Click on the Inventory tab.

    4. Check the “Track inventory” checkbox.

    5. Enter the “Current quantity” of the product that you have in stock.

    6. Click “Save”.

Now that you have product inventory tracking set up, you will be able to see your current stock levels in the “Inventory” section of your Shopify admin. You can also set up low stock alerts, so that you will be notified when your stock levels are running low. To do this:

PRO TIP: If you see the “Out of Stock” message on your Shopify store, it means that your inventory is depleted and you need to order more products from your supplier. This is a common issue for businesses, so don’t worry! Just make sure to keep track of your inventory levels and order more products as needed.

    1. Go to Settings > Notifications. Under “Low stock alerts”, select the checkboxes for the products that you want to be notified about when they’re running low in stock.

    2. Enter the threshold level at which you want to be notified about low stock levels, in the “Send me an alert when..” field. For example, if you enter “5”, you will be notified when the current quantity of a product falls below 5 units.

    3. Click “Save”

You will now receive email notifications when any of the products that you selected are running low in stock.
