Last updated on September 30, 2022 @ 9:34 pm

If you’ve ever used UpWork, you know that payments can sometimes be slow to process. In this article, we’ll discuss some of the most common reasons for why your payment may be pending on UpWork.

1. You Haven’t Met the Minimum Threshold

In order to receive payments on UpWork, you must first reach a minimum threshold of $100. This means that if you’ve only earned $50 in a given week, your payment will be pending until you reach that $100 mark. Once you do, your payment will be processed within 48 hours.

2. You’re New to UpWork

If you’re new to UpWork and have just started using the platform, your payments will automatically be held for 14 days. After those 14 days have passed, your payments will then be processed on a weekly basis.

PRO TIP: If your payment is pending on Upwork, it may be because you have not yet completed the required work for the milestone or because the client has not yet approved the work. To avoid having your payment put on hold, make sure to complete all work for a milestone before submitting it for approval, and keep an eye on your client’s activity to ensure they are approving work in a timely manner.

3. There’s an Issue with Your Payment Method

If you’re using a credit or debit card as your payment method on UpWork, there’s always a possibility that there could be an issue with your card. If this is the case, your payment will be pending until the issue is resolved.

4. There Was a Problem with Your Job

If there was a problem with the job you completed (for example, if the client wasn’t happy with the work), your payment may be put on hold while UpWork investigates the issue.
