Why Is My Text in Photoshop So Small?

Last updated on September 24, 2022 @ 4:00 pm

It’s a common problem faced by many Photoshop users – text that appears far too small in the document window. There are a few possible reasons for this, but fortunately there are also a few easy solutions.

One reason your text may be appearing small is because the default font size in Photoshop is quite small. To change this, go to Edit > Preferences > General and adjust the default font size to something larger. This will make all new text layers appear at the new, larger size.

PRO TIP: If you are experiencing text that is small in Photoshop, it is likely due to a setting in your preferences. To fix this, go to Edit > Preferences > Interface and make sure that the ‘Enable Flick Panning’ option is unchecked.

Another reason your text may be appearing small is because the document itself is very small. To check this, go to Image > Image Size and make sure the width and height values are both large enough. If they’re not, simply increase them until your text appears at a comfortable size.

Finally, it’s possible that your text is appearing small because the text layer itself is very small. To check this, select the layer in the Layers panel and go to Edit > Free Transform. If the bounding box around the text is very small, simply click-and-drag one of the corner handles outward until the text is at the desired size.

So there you have it – three possible reasons why your text may be appearing small in Photoshop, along with three easy solutions. By following these steps you should be able to get your text looking just right in no time!
