Why Is My Wix Domain Not Connecting?

Last updated on September 30, 2022 @ 12:25 pm

If you’ve created a Wix site, you’ve probably chosen a domain name for your website. But what happens if you can’t connect your domain to Wix?

There could be a few different reasons why your Wix domain isn’t connecting. Here are some of the most common reasons:

GREAT NEWS:

Exciting update! We've collaborated with Wix to offer WBI users with a free plan for all website creation needs - Explore the details here.

1. Incorrect DNS Settings

One of the most common reasons why a Wix domain might not be connecting is because the DNS settings are incorrect. When you set up your Wix account, you should have received instructions on how to change your DNS settings. If you didn’t do this correctly, your domain might not be connecting to Wix.

2. Domain Is Already Connected To Another Site

Another possibility is that your domain is already connected to another site. This can happen if you’ve used the same email address to set up multiple sites. If this is the case, you’ll need to use a different email address to set up your Wix site.

PRO TIP: If you are having trouble connecting your Wix domain, there are a few things you can check. First, make sure that your domain is pointed to Wix’s nameservers. You can do this by checking the DNS settings for your domain. If they are not pointing to Wix, you will need to update them.

Second, make sure that you have published your site to the web. You can do this by going to the ‘Publish’ tab in your Wix Editor. If your site is not published, your domain will not be able to connect to it.

If you are still having trouble connecting your domain, please contact Wix’s support team for further assistance.

3. Domain Is Expired

If your domain has expired, it’s possible that it’s no longer active and can’t be used to connect to Wix. You’ll need to renew your domain before you can connect it to Wix.

4. Domain Is Blocked

In some cases, domains can be blocked from connecting to Wix. This usually happens if the domain has been reported for spam or abuse. If this is the case, you’ll need to contact Wix support to have the block removed.

These are some of the most common reasons why a Wix domain might not be connecting. If you’re having trouble connecting your domain, make sure that you’ve followed all of the instructions correctly and that your domain isn’t expired or blocked.
