Payment pending on Shopify can be frustrating. You’ve set up your shop, added your products, and now you’re ready to start selling. But when you go to checkout, you see the dreaded “Payment Pending” message.
Why is this happening? In most cases, it’s because the payment gateway you’re using (Stripe, PayPal, etc.)
is still in the process of verifying your account. This can take a few days, but usually doesn’t take more than a week.
In the meantime, there are a few things you can do to speed up the process:
1. Check your email
The first thing you should do is check your email for any messages from your payment gateway. They will usually send you an email when they start the verification process, and another one when it’s complete. If you can’t find any emails from them, try checking your spam folder just in case.
2. Contact your payment gateway
If you still can’t find any information about why your account is pending, the next best thing to do is contact your payment gateway directly. They should be able to tell you what’s going on and how long it will take to resolve the issue.
3. Use a different payment method
If all else fails, you can always try using a different payment method at checkout. Shopify supports many different payment gateways, so chances are one of them will work for you. Just remember to switch back to your original payment method once your account is verified!
